TOP ‘Aussie’ experiences to do in Yarra Valley

Here are our TOP 5 ‘Aussie’ experiences to do within the Yarra Valley:

1. Visit Healesville Sanctuary and get up close and personal with some Australian wildlife. Animals include kangaroos, koala, platypus, dingo and emu just to name a few 🙂

The spirits of the sky show is a highlight, make sure you make it in time for the talk & watch some incredible birds of prey in action!

2. Head to Coombe, where Dame Nellie Melba once called home. With wine tastings, world-class dining AND  7 acres【2,8 ha】 of lavish gardens to explore, you can’t go wrong!

For just $18 you can be taken on a garden tour around the property for 60 minutes, and if that makes you work up a bit of an appetite, indulge in a little morning tea to satisfy even more!

3. Take a stroll through Cumberland walk ; a four kilometre walk amongst the tallest flowering trees in the world!

The Yarra Ranges National Park has loads of nature walks and lookouts to enjoy, all year round.  Remember to wear appropriate footwear & clothing to avoid injury and discomfort.

4. Increase your calcium intake with COMPLIMENTARY cheese and wine tasting (for groups less than 8 people) at Yarra Valley Dairy.  Try up to 6 different types of cheese on site, and then head over to the wine tasting area to try some locally made red and/or white wine.

Open 7 days a week, 10:30am – 5pm.

5. Get the kids involved with some fresh fruit picking at one of many locations to choose from! Berries and stone fruits: healthy & tasty for all the family.

Strawberries at Gateway Estate, free to pick then your container is weighed, and a cost associated depending on the amount picked. Stay a little longer at the Cafe afterwards for something freshly made to order, vegetarian & gluten free options available.

Open daily but closed on Public Holidays.

Cherries at Cherryhill Orchards bookings essential!!

Stone fruit at Rayners Orchard, inlcuding Peaches, nectarines, apricots and plums. Experience a tractor ride first ($32.50 per adult) with expert advice on which fruit to pick and when they are ready. Then, if you do pick any fruit to take home, this is weighed at the cafe and charged at $5 per kg.

More than just fruit picking, an experience which is also educational.

Tours run 7 days a week, 9am-4pm. Bookings only required for groups of 10 or more people.
